Bud's Guitar Concerto - 3 Free Downloads

Eclipse – Guitar Concerto No1

The Eclipse Concerto was composed in 1997 / 98 as a part of the final year composition module for my music degree at Derby University. It was a completely new piece of work, although an earlier, simplified version of the second movement was recorded in 1994. This earlier instrumental, originally called “Into The Light”, formed the inspiration for the concerto. The aim was to compose a piece of music that demonstrated the electric guitar over an orchestral backing.

The concerto was originally produced on a short CD run in 1999 to celebrate completing my degree, but until now has never been made public. I have digitally remastered the recording and it is now available as a free down load for the first time for Bud fans only
:)

All the instruments on the recording were scored and digitally sequenced in the music studio at Derby University; the only live performance is the lead guitar which was recorded after the orchestral tracks had been laid down. The reason for this was that a full musical score had to be provided in order to complete the degree module.

The concerto as a whole was composed in 3 movements, written to portray a journey through light and darkness, it seemed only appropriate to name the composition “Eclipse” as it highlighted this journey.

The concerto starts with the lively / playful Moderato movement which is composed in 3/4 time and is followed by the moody and at times haunting Adagio movement which modulates between different keys and time signatures, the concerto then ends on a fanfare with the upbeat / light Allegro scherzando movement.

I hope you enjoy listening to this piece of music, please feel free to download it and pass it on to others if you wish, the only thing I ask is that if you do use the music in any way please credit it appropriately.

Enjoy :)  Budx
