Geeky stuff
All songs were recorded at 16bit digital audio (.wav) using the following equipment; Zoom R16 multi track digital recorder, Cubase LE4, SE2200a microphone, Lampifier 111 and 711 microphones, Shure microphones, Presonus Blue Tube microphone pre-amp, Marshall SL5 valve amplifier, Vox Valvetronics amplifier, Alesis M1 520 active monitors, Roland TD5 electronic drums (with Drums XD samples), Yamaha RBX bass guitar, PRS Custom 22 guitar (Eve), Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar (Cherry), Ovation Legend acoustic guitar.

EP Concept
Bud regularly performs Starman live and decided to record the song properly in the summer of 2015. The intention was to release the track along with three other new tracks on an EP at the beginning of 2016. Sadly David Bowie tragically passed away unexpectedly in January of 2016 so it didn’t seem appropriate to release the track at that point. Bud has now decided to release the EP in memory of the great man so that his music lives on.

  1. Starman (D. Bowie).   
Following on from the space travel concept of the “Bud and The Bullet” album Bud started performing the Bowie classic “Starman” live, after all these years the song still seemed to be going down really well with audiences. It seemed a natural progression to record the song as an EP. This recording is dedicated to the memory of David Bowie, one of the most, if not the most influential artists of our generation, his music lives on!

  1. Intercity Mars (Sedgewick / Rogers).   
The song “Intercity Mars” was originally recorded as the title track of an album released in the 1990s by indie band Numb. It was written by Raoul Sedgewick and Bud Rogers, Raoul’s quirky lyrics complimenting’s Bud’s bright Britpop chord structure. “All aboard, tickets please… You’d better hold on to your seats”… Enjoy the ride J
 
  1. Fight or Flight (Rogers).  
“Fight or Flight” is essentially a song about fear. Initially inspired by the fear of flying, the song developed into a deeper look at the fears we all carry about relationships. Should we stay… should we go? Is this the right person for me? etc. It’s funny how sometimes we’re attracted to people who we know aren’t right for us, but with that one special kiss that takes your breath away we just dive in anyway. It’s almost as if we enjoy the pain, hence the dilemma… “Break these wings and teach me how to fly”.
 
  1. Portrait of a Girl  (Rogers)  
Inspired by a painting found whilst going through boxes of old stuff, Portrait of a Girl paints a picture of someone going through their belongings and finding old records and keepsakes that bring back memories from the past. The song is written as a lament to remind us to enjoy the good times.
